The Process

At CEGO, shirts are crafted to your exact measurements and design specifications.

Carl or a trained member of his team will take measurements and open a discussion about how you'd like your shirt to fit. We'll talk style, collar shape, cuff possibilities, shirtfront elements. The only limits are your imagination (well, and the laws of physics): CEGO has been making shirts since 1983. There is little in shirt styling we haven't seen or made.
We'll help you choose fabrics from our selection of over 2000 in-stock fabrics as well as our extensive array of swatch books from the finest mills, including Alumo, Thomas Mason/Albini, Testa, Grandi & Rubinelli, Canclini, and more. You'll also choose from our vast selection of contemporary and vintage buttons, including options made from mother of pearl (MOP), horn, and corozo nut.

There's a five-shirt minimum for new customers. Your shirts can be designed in different fabrics, collar and cuff styles, and fits — choose dress fit and/or casual fit. After your initial order is complete, there is no minimum. We'll make a paper pattern with your measurements and cut your shirt by hand, and sew it in our workroom on Fifth Avenue. We'll first produce a single shirt, usually within one week. You'll try it on and we'll check the fit and style, getting the smallest details exactly right. At your second fitting, we'll make the final alterations.

We ask you to wear the garment and have it laundered several times; it'll shrink to size, usually within two to three washings. See how the fit works for you, and once you've shared your perspective with us, we'll finish the balance of the order to your specs, usually within two weeks. Prices start at $225 and average around $275, depending on the fabric you choose. For a small additional charge, we'd be delighted to hand- or machine-monogram your custom shirt. Not local? No problem. We can make a first sample in a day for out-of-town visitors with limited time in NYC. Want to buy a gift certificate? We're here for you. Shirt minimums are waived for gift certificates and weddings. (We want grooms and other members of the wedding party to look their snappiest.)

We look forward to creating the custom shirt of your dreams.
